Nick says: It’s quite often a mistake to pick people’s words apart but I did think Anthony Barry was interesting at half-time when he said “we wanted to show our players that there was no inferiority complex”. Why would they have thought there was? I guess the answer has something to do with Argentina’s title-winning pedigree and a certain Lionel Messi. But it suggests there were concerns about at least some kind of external pressure filtering through. Houthi leader: 'A full-scale escalation will be met with full-scale escalation' In a televised statement, Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi addressed the Yemeni people, claiming readiness for full-scale escalation "if the Saudi enemy chooses full-scale escalation". With regards to the ongoing tensions in the region, al-Houthi reiterated his group's support for Iran. "Some regimes are angered when Iran responds to the American bases in their territory, although they are the very bases from which attacks were launched. The bare minimum is that those regimes remain neutral and not allow the Americans to use their lands or airspace," he said.

French President Emmenuel Macron visited Fontainebleau on the outskirts of Paris, after devastating wildfires that scorched at least 10% of the 20-thousand-hectare forest. Macron warned it would ‌take several weeks for the fire to be completely ⁠extinguished but pledged to replant the historic domain. Meanwhile, several arrests have been made, including one of a volunteer firefighter placed under formal investigation.
