Red Cross calls for 'urgent steps' to de-escalate Yemen-Saudi fighting The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on Tuesday for an urgent de-escalation of hostilities between Yemen's Houthis and Saudi Arabia, warning they risked expanding the Middle East conflict.

ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger said in a statement that "urgent steps" were needed, warning that if hostilities were not contained, the fighting "could worsen the already devastating humanitarian situation faced by millions of people" in the region.

This comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that nearly 900 people have been wounded or killed in Yemen as a result of the renewed fighting that began last week.
