Rubio, Omani foreign minister discuss Iranian attacks and Hormuz shipping US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian attacks in the waterway and against regional countries with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, the State Department said.

Rubio acknowledged Oman’s role in regional de-escalation and condemned recent Iranian attacks on commercial ships and countries in the region, according to a State Department readout.

Rubio also “reiterated the United States’ commitment to ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon and to freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz", the statement said.
