Iranian media says ship hit with missile after 'ignoring warning'

Iranian media says ship hit with missile after 'ignoring warning' Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported that a ship was targeted with a cruise missile after it ignored warnings to turn back from Iranian authorities. Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that it fired warning shots at a vessel that had turned off its transponder in the Strait of Hormuz, attempting to cross via what it termed an “illegal route”. State broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting earlier issued the IRGC's statement announcing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz "until further notice".
