Irdai digs into life insurers' costs beyond commissions
Irdai now seeks operating expense data, excluding commissions, from life insurers. This move aims to revamp the industry's distribution framework and reduce policy costs. The regulator will discuss distribution reforms by the end of July. Private insurers' commission expenses have nearly doubled since 2021-22.
