In a statement carried by the Wafa news agency, the presidency said Israeli forces and settlers had intensified their assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other sacred sites. “Systematic attacks have crossed all red lines and could ignite a wider religious conflict with serious consequences for the region and the world,” it said. The warning followed an attempt by “Colonists” to burn a mosque in Beita, northwest of Nablus, and spray racist slogans across its walls. The incident coincided with Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s “storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque”. “The continuation of the repeated attacks, and the accompanying incitement, is the full responsibility of the occupying government, which is pushing matters toward this dangerous escalation.” The presidency urged the international community to take “immediate and serious action to stop these crimes”.
