Iran-backed armed group gives US troops deadline to withdraw from Iraq Akram al-Kaabi, head of the Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, an Iranian-backed paramilitary group in Iraq, has threatened US troops stationed in the country, giving them a deadline until the end of September to withdraw. “If an American soldier remains in Iraq after 30 September, we will not allow them to return home safely, and only their bodies will be taken out of Iraq,” al-Kaabi said in a statement, according to Iran’s IRIB news on Wednesday.
