France's D-Day landing beaches could become a UNESCO World Heritage site in July
Normandy’s application to have the D-Day beaches in northern France listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site could finally be accepted at the end of July, after it's submission nearly 20 years ago. The nomination also includes Pointe du Hoc, the German artillery battery at Longues-sur-Mer, Port Mulberry, and numerous military cemeteries and memorials. The UN cultural agency is set to male a decision between July 24 and 27.
