Iran vows all means to defend country, continue strikes Iran’s foreign ministry said the country would use all means to “legitimately defend the nation’s rights and security”. In a statement carried by IRNA, the ministry said the defensive strikes by the “brave Iranian armed forces will continue with full might” as “the American enemy is committing acts of aggression against Iran through a continued naval blockade of Iranian ports”. The statement said the US was “persisting in its bad faith regarding the implementation of the agreement to end the war” through “brutal attacks on various regions of the country, intensified economic pressure, and illegal threats”. The ministry hailed “the unparalleled efforts of our nation’s glorious armed forces in the powerful defence of Iran’s sovereignty” and paid tribute to the “noble spirit of our martyred leader and all those who sacrificed their lives for Iran’s independence and honour”. The IRGC said that the attack, in which it claimed to have destroyed three F-35 fighters and damaged three others, avenged "the American aggression on Qeshm Island". Iranian authorities said that a couple and their two-year-old child were killed and two other children were injured in an American strike on a building on Qeshm Island on 30 July. The strikes caused widespread damage to property.

Iraqi premier al-Zaydi announces 'deterrent measures' against playing role in regional hostilities Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi has announced "deterrent measures" to prevent attacks on "neighbouring countries" coming from within Iraqi territory, following an emergency meeting with domestic security forces late Saturday. The announcement, which did not provide further detail on the planned measures, comes after the Iraq-based Popular Mobilisation Forces paramilitary launched drone attacks at Saudi energy infrastructure earlier this week, prompting US and Saudi retaliatory strikes. The PMF paramilitary, which is dominated by pro- Iranian Shia factions, said that over 20 of its fighters were killed in the strikes. Iraq also found itself in the crosshairs of the US-Israeli war on Iran earlier this a wave of attacks this week on Iranian Kurdish groups based in Iraqi territory, which that have been widely attributed to Iran. A statement provided by al-Zaydi's office on Saturday said that the emergency meeting "reaffirmed the readiness of the Armed Forces to thwart any attempt targeting neighboring countries within our regional environment." It added that the Iraqi government had was committed "to preventing Iraqi territory from being used as a launching point or passageway for attacks against brotherly or friendly countries, in fulfillment of its responsibility to safeguard national sovereignty and uphold the principles of good neighborliness and international law.”
