Trump says Iran 'wants to settle' as he boasts of new strikes US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran "wants to settle", adding that he would decide whether or not to take that step.

"We'll have Iran defeated soon. They'll be defeated very soon," Trump said in remarks Fighting has flared between the two sides despite an agreement to extend their spring ceasefire and conduct peace talks.

In an interview with Fox News aired late on Tuesday, Trump said he had ordered the military to avoid striking Iran's oil facilities, but refused to rule out seizing Kharg Island again, Iran's main export hub.

"If we degrade them far enough and deep enough back, I would do that," he told Fox News.
