US lawmaker says Trump facing 'crisis of his own making' amid war on Iran
US lawmaker says Trump facing 'crisis of his own making' amid war on Iran US Senator Mark Kelly said that Donald Trump is facing difficulty in finding an exit from the war on Iran.
"This is a crisis of his own making and he has left himself with little options," Kelly told ABC new.
Some of the options Trump is left with, according to Kelly, include walking away from the war, put economic pressure amid negotiations, escalating with ground troops - which he warns could lead to "maybe even tens of thousands" of dead Americans.
The senator also suggested rebuilding coalitions with European allies, which he says have "fallen apart" in recent times due to Trump's decisions.
He added that the American public are "frustrated" as a result because they "can't afford their lives anymore".
"I think that sanctions are better than just randomly dropping bombs on thousands and thousands of targets and in some cases killing innocent Iranian kids. I mean that wasn't a good plan," Kelly said.
"We need serious people involved in this," he expressed amid concerns that figures in the current administration are not equipped to handle the conflict.
