Palestinian presidency warns Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa risk igniting ‘religious conflict’ The Palestinian presidency has warned that escalating Israeli attacks on Islamic holy sites risk triggering a religious conflict across the region.

In a statement carried by the Wafa news agency, the presidency said Israeli forces and settlers had intensified their assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other sacred sites.

“Systematic attacks have crossed all red lines and could ignite a wider religious conflict with serious consequences for the region and the world,” it said.

The warning followed an attempt by “Colonists” to burn a mosque in Beita, northwest of Nablus, and spray racist slogans across its walls.

The incident coincided with Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s “storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque”.

“The continuation of the repeated attacks, and the accompanying incitement, is the full responsibility of the occupying government, which is pushing matters toward this dangerous escalation.

” The presidency urged the international community to take “immediate and serious action to stop these crimes”.
