80 countries call at UN for reopening of Hormuz Strait A coalition of 80 countries called on Thursday for the restoration of freedom of navigation in the Gulf, condemning attacks by Iran and the Houthis in Yemen that are disrupting global shipping.
“Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to threaten international security and navigational rights and freedoms,” said a joint statement read out by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani at UNGA. ”
“We call for the full restoration of navigational rights and principles without delay.
