Irish lower house passes bill banning settlement goods

Irish lower house passes bill banning settlement goods A bill banning the trade of goods from the occupied Palestinian territory has been passed by the lower house of the Irish parliament, the Press Association reported. It was passed despite opposition criticism that it did not go far enough to combat Israeli settlements on Palestinian land because it omits services. Several amendments to the bill, including one that would have included services in the ban, were voted down. The bill prohibits the import of goods from "certain Israeli settlements", in line with Ireland's international obligations as set out in the International Court of Justice's July 2024 advisory opinion.
