Iran says new anti-ship missile was tested over US warship
Iran says new anti-ship missile was tested over US warship Iran has successfully tested a new anti-ship missile over a US Navy vessel, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, said, according to Fars News. “For the first time, we tested our anti-ship missile above an American warship,” Rezaei said during a televised interview Sunday night. He described the weapon as a “special missile” that “created hell for the Americans”, claiming the US vessels fled the area. Earlier Sunday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its Aerospace Force had fired several ballistic missiles at a US aircraft carrier and an American destroyer involved in the blockade, forcing the vessels to leave the area, Fars News reported. US Central Command has acknowledged that the vessels came under attack by "hostile missiles", adding that they were defeated without damage and were met with retaliatory strikes. Rezaei said the acknowledgement by US Central Command showed that Washington could not conceal the strikes, calling them a warning that the US naval blockade was vulnerable.
